THE TWO FIRST PROJECTS

Dear reader,

Today I want to talk about our first two group projects on the subject. But before we dive into this topic, I would like to clear some black holes in the narrative, in addition to talking a little bit about the team I’m a part of.

Firstly, I would like to explain some information I forgot to mention in the first entry, and it is that, in this subject, we have class twice in a week. Every session is about 80 minutes long; and although on Monday’s lessons we are divided in two classes, on Tuesday, we have class with the main group. If this detail is clear, I would like to put the lights onto the next point: the group.

Since the first class, we were told that we will have to work in groups of four for all the semester. I first teamed up with a new friend of mine, that I met in this degree, with whom I get very along with. Together, we agreed that It would be a wonderful experience to complete our team with some Erasmus students, due to the fact that we both thought that could be a unique opportunity. So, after our second class, we asked two Erasmus students from Germany, who were in our half group class, if they wanted to go in our group, and they agreed. Looking back at it, I don’t regret making this decision, because so far, I have been nothing but pleased with it.

That being said, it’s time to start talking about the first project, which was the creation of an infographic of a children’s TV show. I’m not kidding when I’m saying that we spend more than twenty minutes just choosing the show. I really have never thought that it would be so difficult to find a show that had launched in both Germany and Catalonia; at least, one that everybody in the group had seen. At the end, we decided on Vicky the Viking, a TV series following a little Viking in his day-to-day life. A very good show, if you ask… We decided to do the infographic on Canva, which is a platform to create different kinds of posters. Between you and me, I have been using Canva for a very long time now, and, despite the fact that I don’t have the premium service, it really makes its projects look more than acceptable. I would strongly recommend it to students, although I think that, nowadays, a lot of people already know about its existence. Well, getting back on track, not so many days after the session, we finished the final product, which we were very proud of. The presentation was after the submission of the task, and although I couldn’t come for personal reasons, my teammates said it went really well.

On the other hand, the second project was the creation of an educational video of a web. In our case, we did a video about a project called Digital Tools 4 Teaching (T4T) (see PD). It was co-founded by the European Union after the COVID-19 pandemic, and its purpose is to reinforce the abilities of educators in different fields. We had a bit of problems uploading the final video, but, for the rest, it went all well. We really had a very good time while filming the video, it was truly a unique experience.

In conclusion, both of the projects were very interesting to do, not only for the tools that we use, but also for the things that we learn while creating them. This is all for this entry. Hope you liked it!

See you soon,

Núria Brusi
